Woman looking out of a window. Based on Roman Vishniac’s photography, snapped moments before most of European Jewry were obliterated. The Carpathian mountains were home to some of the most poorest and pious Jewish communities in Eastern Europe, numbering around 100,000 Jews across the region. In the spring of 1944 most Carpathian Jews were deported to Auschwitz. Here’s my way of bringing life, beauty and an everlasting memorial to the six million Jewish men, women and children who perished in the unspeakable horrors of the holocaust. May Hashem avenge their blood.
