The English translation of this beautiful and powerful blessing reads as follows,
‘May G-d bless you and keep watch over you. May G-d make His presence enlighten you and grant you grace. May G-d direct His providence towards you and grant you peace.’ Numbers 24-26
The sources say that every blessing found in the Torah is concentrated in just the first word of this blessing alone, and that the blessing as a whole encompasses every possible good fortune.
The letters are painted in the shape of a circle to resemble the Hebrew letter ‘samech’ which has the numerical value of sixty corresponding to the sixty letters in this blessing. The midrash says that the sixty letters correspond to the sixty tractates of the Mishnah in whose merit the Jewish people are blessed.
The almonds and almond blossoms painted around the letters, allude to the miracle which occurred in the desert when G-d demonstrated Aharon's Divine appointment as High Priest, and his descendants as priests who's task it was to serve in the Holy Temple, the Beit Hamikdash, and bless the Jewish people with this blessing.
The number of words in each phrase also correspond to three different things. 1) The first verse contains three words which correspond to Avraham, Yitzchak and Yaakov, in whose merit we are blessed. The second verse is made up of five words, which tells us that we are blessed on account of the five books of the Torah. The last verse contains seven words, corresponding to the seven firmaments. (Meam Loez)
Whether this is your first time reading these words, or you have been saying them for years, this piece takes this blessing to a whole new level. of meaning, beauty and significance.
Enhance your home with this blessing and bring unity, peace and Divine protection into it's walls.
